KETAMINE ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY (KAP)

Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a holistic, evidence-based form of psychedelic assisted therapy that pairs ketamine treatment with dedicated psychotherapy sessions. Combining KAP with ongoing psychotherapy can provide for deeper therapy, insights, more frequent breakthroughs, and better clinical outcomes.

WHAT CAN THE BENEFITS BE?

  • Enhanced Neuroplasticity

Chronic distress can impair brain cells, reducing their connections and functionality. Ketamine may promote brain health by fostering neuroplasticity, potentially helping rebuild and restructure neural pathways that can aid in supporting sustained healing.

  • Rebalancing Thought Patterns

By adjusting activity in the brain’s default mode network, Ketamine may help disrupt persistent challenging thought loops which are so common for many of us, potentially enabling the development of healthier patterns and habits.

  • Potential For Relief

Ketamine’s potential to encourage new brain connections is being studied and there is already a wealth of knowledge demonstrating the therapeutic benefits. Some patients report therapeutic effects that can last weeks or even longer, which may be maintained with periodic maintenance sessions.

WHAT DOES THE KAP PROCESS LOOK LIKE? HOW DOES IT WORK?

  1. Initial Exploratory Consultation

This is a free 20 minute consultation exploring this treatment, discussing your history and expectations, and a conversation to help determine your eligibility.

  2. Initial Medical Consultation

We partner with a local medical provider licensed in NY State specializing in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy. You will meet with the medical prescriber who will perform a thorough medical assessment and determine medical eligibility for KAP and, if approved, fill your ketamine prescription. The cost for the initial assessment is currently $350 and $150 for follow up assessments. You can seek reimbursement from your insurance company for these appointments using any out-of-network benefits. You should also be able to use FSA/HSA accounts. The cost of the medicine itself is additional, but Ketamine is a low-cost generic medication. The medical prescriber will go over this information in detail during your meeting.

  3. Preparation Session

We will meet in-person or virtually to align on the process and set intentions for the KAP dosing session.

  4. Medicine Sessions

Your medicine sessions can occur in our office with your therapist present or at-home with a trusted identified chaperone. You will self-administer your ketamine lozenge during your session. For at-home sessions, you will identify a trusted chaperone to be on standby for any of the in-person needs that come up during the session. You will work with your therapist to determine who would be best to serve as a chaperone for you. For in-office work, your therapist will be with you for your session, but you will need a chaperone to pick you up from our office.

  5. Integration Sessions

We will review your experience and explore the memories, thoughts, and insights that arise during your dosing sessions. We will explore how to integrate your experience into your daily life.

  6. Follow-up Medical Consultations

You will meet with the medical prescriber for ongoing medical updates and any prescription refills as noted above.

WHAT IS THE COST OF KAP THERAPY?

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) involves two (2) main costs:

1. Psychotherapy Costs Through Mosaic

Therapy sessions include preparation sessions, a portion of the medicine dosing sessions, and our ongoing integration sessions. Our rates and insurance information can be found here.

2. Medical Evaluation & Costs

The cost for the initial assessment is currently $350 and $150 for follow up assessments. This is all arranged directly between you and the medical prescriber.

Note that clients will generally pay significantly less for KAP through Mosaic Holistic Psychotherapy than they would at a Ketamine Clinic or Medical Practice.

We will discuss costs and explore options during our initial consultation.
